About
Chuck Spinks discovered his love of trains at age six, when he received a Märklin train set while living in Germany, where his father was stationed as a U.S. Army officer. He later grew up in the East Bay town of Orinda, and went on to serve four years in the Army Security Agency, with tours in Vietnam and Germany.
After his military service, Chuck earned a degree in Civil Engineering from San Jose State University and built a successful career as a civil engineering consultant. Since retiring, he’s dedicated his time to history and railroading—serving as a docent at the California State Railroad Museum and staying actively involved with the American Society of Civil Engineers, where he contributes to the Society’s History & Heritage Committee.
When not immersed in all things trains and engineering history, Chuck enjoys life in Northern California with his wife and two dogs, tending to his small vineyard.
